How Chelsea could line up with Erling Braut Haaland

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up next season if they win the race for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.

Chelsea are reportedly one of the frontrunners to land Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland in the summer transfer window.

The Norway international is a player in demand after scoring 49 goals in 49 appearances for BVB over the past 14 months.

Chelsea do not exactly lack in terms of attacking quality, having spent big to bring in the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz last year.

However, with the Blues well off the Premier League title pace this term, owner Roman Abramovich is supposedly determined to bring in Haaland.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up next season should they sign the prolific striker.

Thomas Tuchel has enjoyed a lot of success with a 3-4-3 formation of sorts since taking over from Frank Lampard in January.

That is not a formation Haaland is used to playing in at Dortmund, but he would at least remain the lone striker in this system.

Havertz's first season at Stamford Bridge has been disappointing, yet if Chelsea can get the best out of him they have one of the finest talents in world football.

There are plenty of other contenders for the wide positions, such as Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Werner, but Mason Mount has been superb this season and has to fit in this side.

The benefit of a 3-4-3 formation is that two players, in this case Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante, can sit back and provide some balance to the side.

Five members of the back six, including goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, effectively choose themselves when fully fit.

Ben Chilwell has not exactly been a nailed-on starter at left wing-back under Tuchel, but he is another who could possibly thrive in a new position if given some time to do so.
