Preview: Bromley vs. Notts County - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Bromley and Notts County, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

One of the standout fixtures in the National League on Saturday will take place at Hayes Lane as Bromley welcome Notts County for what is a huge game.

Bromley are currently ninth in the table, level on points with seventh-placed Chesterfield, while Notts County are fifth and are already guaranteed a spot in the playoff quarter-finals.

Match preview

Bromley continued their impressive run of form last weekend, as they scored a 95th-minute winner through Joe Kizzi to record a 3-2 success over Aldershot Town.

Unbeaten in their last five National League matches, Andy Woodman's side are currently ninth in the table, level on points with seventh-placed Chesterfield, as they battle to sneak into the playoff spots.

It is delicately poised in the table, with just two points separating 10th-placed Halifax Town from sixth-placed Wrexham, meaning that there could be a lot of movement on the final day.

Bromley, who finished 13th in the National League last season, have found it difficult to show consistency at home this term, winning seven, drawing six and losing seven of their 20 league matches on their own patch.

That said, the Ravens have only lost once in the league since the end of March and will be taking on a Notts County side that have already secured a playoff position.

The visitors have won 20, drawn 10 and lost 11 of their 41 National League fixtures this term to collect 70 points, which has left them in fifth position, and they are not in any danger of finishing outside of the top seven.

Notts County are four points behind third-placed Stockport County, though, meaning that they will enter the playoffs at the quarter-final stage, and it is set to be a fascinating battle to join Sutton United in League Two.

The Magpies, who were third in the fifth tier last season, will certainly feel that they belong at a higher level, and like Bromley, Ian Burchnall's side are in impressive form.

Indeed, Notts County have won five of their last six league fixtures, including an impressive 3-0 home victory over Weymouth last weekend.

Burchnall will be aware that his side have bigger fish to fry as they prepare for the playoffs, but consistency is key at this stage of the season, and it should be an excellent battle on Saturday afternoon.

Team News

Kizzi, who claimed a dramatic late winner against Aldershot last time out, will again feature in what could be an unchanged Bromley side this weekend.

Head coach Woodman has plenty of options for change, but the manner of the victory last time out means that it would not be a surprise to see the same XI sent onto the field against Notts County.

Michael Cheek is the leading goalscorer in the National League this season with 23, and the 29-year-old will again lead the home side's line on Saturday afternoon.

Notts County will have had a week to prepare for this match, meaning that fatigue should not really been an issue, but Burchnall could decide to shuffle his pack this weekend.

Enzio Boldewijn came off the bench to find the back of the net against Weymouth and could now be handed a spot in the side, while Elisha Sam may also be promoted to the first XI.

There should still be a familiar look to the side, though, with Ruben Rodrigues set to start in attack.

Bromley possible starting lineup:
Cousins; Kizzi, Mitchell, Bingham, Fox; Bush, Trotter, Arthurs, Bridge; Williamson, Cheek

Notts County possible starting lineup:
Slocombe; Miller, Chicksen, Doyle, Brindley; Ellis, Boldewijn, O'Brien, Sam; Rodrigues, Wootton

We say: Bromley 2-2 Notts County

There is no question that this is a bigger match for Bromley, but we are finding it difficult to back the hosts with any real confidence. Notts County are a very talented outfit and will not want to enter the playoffs off the back of a loss, so we can see the two teams playing out an entertaining draw on Saturday.
