Brentford confirm Dean Smith appointment

Championship side Brentford announce the appointment of Walsall boss Dean Smith, who will replace interim manager Lee Carsley.

Dean Smith has agreed to take charge of Championship outfit Brentford.

Recent speculation had claimed that the Walsall boss was the frontrunner to replace Lee Carsley, who has been in interim charge at Griffin Park since the end of September when Marinus Dijkhuizen was relieved of his duties.

Forty-four-year-old Smith was said to have held discussions with the Bees over the weekend and while no further information has been provided at present, the West London-based club have confirmed the appointment of the former Leyton Orient defender on their official Twitter page.

Walsall have confirmed that Smith's assistant Richard O'Kelly will also make the switch.ID:260058: cacheID:260058:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:2217:
