Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Sheffield Wednesday

Sports Mole looks ahead to Saturday's Championship clash between Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.

Blackburn Rovers have the opportunity to close the gap on the teams at the top of the Championship table when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon.

Gary Bowyer's side are just three points outside the automatic promotion places and four behind leaders Derby County.

Blackburn are unbeaten in their previous five games, and head into this weekend's fixture full of confidence after Rudy Gestede's stoppage-time equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough last Saturday.

Doubts remain over the fitness of Grant Hanley, who was taken off in the first half at the Riverside Stadium, and he could be replaced by Adam Henley in a defensive reshuffle.

Sheffield Wednesday could return to the top half of the table, and their confidence will also be high after claiming a first win since the middle of September with a 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic.

Steve May scored both goals in that game, and he is likely to continue in attack with support from Atdhe Nuhiu and Chris Maguire.

Sheffield Wednesday:

Sports Mole says: 2-1
