New Sporting Lisbon midfielder Danijel Pranjic suggests that he wanted to join Everton this summer.

Croatian midfielder Danijel Pranjic has revealed that he joined Sporting Lisbon from Bayern Munich on Friday because reported interest from Everton never materialised.

The 31-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Portuguese club last week, but he has suggested that he would have preferred a move to Everton.

"David Moyes publicly announced that he wanted me at Everton. But then I got a feeling that things were moving too slow and I didn't want to wait anymore," Pranjic told Sportske Novosti.

"I could have waited until the end of August but then Sporting knocked on my door and I knew right away that this is what I want. I could also have gone to Besiktas but Sporting was such a good option for me that I couldn't say no."

Pranjic has 45 international caps to his name.
