Team News: Gotze replaces Lewandowski for Bayern

Mario Gotze replaces Robert Lewandowski in the Bayern Munich side for the Bundesliga meeting with Hoffenheim.

Pep Guardiola has given Mario Gotze a starting spot in the Bayern Munich side for the Bundesliga clash with Hoffenheim.

The future of Gotze has been the source of much speculation over the summer, but with Guardiola keen to keep the World Cup winner, the attacking midfielder is handed an opportunity to impress.

It is the only change to the Bayern side that thrashed Hamburger SV 5-0 in their opening fixture as Robert Lewandowski drops to the bench for the visitors.

Summer signings Douglas Costa and Arturo Vidal start once again, while Thomas Muller is set to play the one striker role.

Hoffenheim boss Markus Gisdol has decided against making changes following last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, which means that Kevin Volland once again partners Kevin Kuranyi in attack.

Hoffenheim: Baumann; Kim, Sule, Schar, Kaderabek; Schwegler, Polanski, Schmid, Zuber; Volland, Kuranyi

Bayern Munich: Neuer; Benatia, Boateng, Alaba, Lahm; Alonso, Vidal, Robben, Gotze, Costa; Muller
