Pep Guardiola charged by UEFA over T-shirt tribute

UEFA charges Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola for wearing a T-shirt in tribute to a journalist who died at last year's World Cup.

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has been charged by UEFA for wearing a T-shirt in tribute to a dead journalist.

Guardiola was seen sporting a T-shirt that read "Justica para Topo" at a press conference on Monday ahead of his side's Champions League quarter-final against Porto.

The words were a reference to an Argentinian reporter who died in a car crash during last year's World Cup in Brazil.

UEFA has described the alleged offence as an "incident of non-sporting nature". European football's governing body has strict rules when it comes to broadcasting messages that are not in line with sponsorship deals.

The case will be dealt with at a disciplinary hearing on May 21.

Bayern hammered Porto 6-1 at the Allianz Arena last night to book their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
