Mario Mandzukic returns to Atletico Madrid training

Atletico Madrid forward Mario Mandzukic returns to training just four days after undergoing surgery on his broken nose.

Mario Mandzukic has returned to Atletico Madrid training just four days after undergoing surgery to repair a broken nose.

The summer signing from Bayern Munich picked up the nasal fracture in last week's Champions League defeat to Olympiacos and underwent surgery to repair the problem on Thursday.

It had been expected that the 28-year-old would return to training at the end of the week, but the Croatian was surprisingly present during a session in the Spanish capital this morning.

It is understood that the striker could be fit for this weekend's clash against Sevilla, but will be forced to wear a protective mask.
