Nottingham Forest have reportedly failed with a transfer bid for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.
The DR Congo international has been in fine form this season, having scored 11 goals in 19 Premier League appearances.
Wissa's goalscoring exploits has led to reported transfer interest from Forest and Arsenal ahead of next month's deadline.
According to talkSPORT, Forest have stepped up their pursuit by submitting a £22m bid for the Brentford striker.
The report claims that the Bees have rejected the proposal because it 'fall significantly below' their valuation for the 28-year-old.
It is unclear whether Forest will return with an improved bid, with the Reds believed to be considering Wissa as one of a number of potential targets.
Nuno Espirito Santo is seemingly keen to strengthen his attacking options to help Forest maintain their Champions League qualification bid.
The Reds are currently sitting in third place in the Premier League table after putting together an eight-game unbeaten run in the top flight.

Brentford strike Kayode deal
While Brentford are determined to keep hold of Wissa, they are reportedly on the verge of strengthening Thomas Frank's side with the addition of Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode.
The 20-year-old, who has previously been linked with Liverpool, has struggled to gain regular playing time in Raffaele Palladino's side this season, having been restricted to six starts in 12 competitive appearances.
It was claimed earlier on Tuesday that Brentford were making significant progress in talks with Fiorentina over a potential move for Kayode.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have now reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign Kayode on an initial loan deal.
The deal also includes a buy option which gives the Bees the opportunity to make the move permanent for €16m (£13.2m) at the end of the season.
It remains to be seen whether Kayode's arrival could pave the way for Mads Roerslev to move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
The German club have already made an official proposal to sign Roerslev on a loan deal with an option to make it permanent.

Vlachodimos turns down Saudi Pro League move
Newcastle United goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has reportedly turned down the chance to join Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab.
The Saudi Arabian side looks set to end the transfer window without signing a Newcastle shot-stopper despite being linked with Dubravka and Vlachodimos.
Dubravka appeared to be on the verge of joining Al Shabab after allegedly agreeing personal terms, but has seemingly been persuaded to stay at St James' Park after impressing in Nick Pope's injury absence.
Al Shabab have now turned their attention to Vlachodimos, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Greece international has rejected a formal proposal to join Fatih Terim's side.
The update claims that Vlachodimos wants to continue his career in Europe rather than make the switch to the Saudi Pro League.
Vlachodimos could still depart before the transfer deadline, having struggled for playing time since he arrived from Nottingham Forest in the summer.
The 30-year-old's only appearance for the Magpies came as a substitute in October's EFL Cup clash with AFC Wimbledon.
