Brendan Rodgers hints at Leicester City release clause amid Arsenal speculation

Brendan Rodgers suggests that there is a release clause in his contract at Leicester City amid speculation claiming that he is in line to become the next Arsenal manager.

Brendan Rodgers has suggested that there is a release clause in his contract at Leicester City amid speculation claiming that he is in line to become the next Arsenal manager.

Arsenal have commenced their search for a new boss following the club's decision to sack Unai Emery last week following a winless run lasting seven games.

Reports have claimed that Rodgers, whose Leicester side are second in the table, is among Arsenal's primary candidates for the position.

Speaking on the subject of any potential release clause, Rodgers told Sky Sports News: "There probably is [a clause] in most manager's contracts. It is all hypothetical.

"My focus is very much with Leicester. I made a change nine months ago and I have been very happy since I came here. We still have a lot of work to do.

"Most manager's contracts will have something in but my focus is here."

Arsenal would reportedly need to splash out a fee of £14m as compensation to Leicester in order to secure the services of Rodgers.

Mikel Arteta, Massimiliano Allegri, Carlo Ancelotti and Nuno Espirito Santo have all been mentioned as other candidates for the position.
