Andy Murray excited by Johanna Konta's progression

Andy Murray praises the potential of British number two Johanna Konta, who has made the fourth round of the 2015 US Open.

Andy Murray has claimed that British number two Johanna Konta has "the potential to go very high" in the sport if she continues to improve.

Konta, 24, booked her spot in the fourth round of the US Open with a 7-6[2] 6-3 victory over Andrea Petkovic on Saturday, having overcome Garbine Muguruza in the previous round.

Murray, who booked his own spot in the fourth round of the competition on Sunday, has praised the potential of his fellow Brit.

"She's obviously been on an excellent run lately. Very close to being the number one in Britain. Kind of shows how high she could get, which is exciting, beating two players like Petkovic and Muguruza," Murray told reporters.

"It suggests she has the potential to go very high if she continues on the right path. I think that's very, very exciting."

Konta's spot in the fourth round of the US Open is already comfortably her best-ever display at a Grand Slam.
