Johanna Konta: 'I must play my own game against Petra Kvitova'

British number two Johanna Konta admits that she must play her own game when she faces Petra Kvitova in the US Open fourth round.

Johanna Konta has revealed that she is relishing the opportunity to play in front of big crowds at the US Open.

The British number two, who came through qualifying at Flushing Meadows, registered a straight-sets success over Andrea Petkovic on the Louis Armstrong Court, to set up a last-16 showdown with fifth seed Petra Kvitova.

The two-time Wimbledon champion will be a clear favourite to prevail, but Konta has insisted that she is focused on savouring the achievement of reaching the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time.

The 24-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I've been here almost two weeks and I'm absolutely chuffed to still be here. I am very humbled by this opportunity and be able to play in front of such a wonderful stage in front of so many people.

"Kvitova is obviously a two-time Grand Slam champion and a top-five player. I've just got to go out there and concentrate on things at my end, but I will have a chat with my coach when the times comes."

Konta has provisionally moved up to number 58 in the world rankings after her win over the 18th seed.
