Andy Roddick has progressed to the third round of the Shanghai Masters with victory over Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov this afternoon.
American Roddick required a 7-3 success in a tie-break to claim the first set 7-6 in China.
Former Wimbledon youth champion Dimitrov pushed Roddick hard during the second set but was unable to prevent the 29-year-old from wrapping up the match with a 7-5 triumph.
Until now, Roddick had never progressed beyond the second round in Shanghai.
He will now face Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in the next round later this week.
