Former world number one Roger Federer took just 51 minutes to record a 6-1 6-2 victory over Potito Starace at the Rome International this evening.
Federer was the dominant force from the first game and broke his Italian opponent on two occasions to open up a one-set advantage.
It was a similar outcome in the second set, although world number 305 Starace managed to get two games on the board.
Federer, currently ranked third in the world, will now face either Gilles Simon or Russia's Mikhail Youzhny in the next round.
