Viktor Troicki has moved into the fourth round of the French Open with a straight-sets victory over Marin Cilic.

The Serbian started slowly, allowing Cilic to take an early advantage by being broken in his second service game. However, Cilic failed to take the opening set on his serve as Troicki returned impressively to level the score at 5-5.

Both players held serve to take it to a tie-break, where neither could close out the set. However it was Troicki who eventually prevailed, winning the tie-break 14-12 with his sixth set point.

Troicki broke his Croatian opponent in the third game of the second set, which proved crucial as he held on to his serve strongly to take it 6-4.

There was little to separate the players in the third set, with both holding serve well.

However with the score at 5-5, Troicki had three break points on Cilic's serve, taking the game at the third attempt. The world number 57 then dropped just one point on his serve to close out the set 7-5.

Troicki will face either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Jeremy Chardy in the next round.
