Jo-Wilfried Tsonga sees off Aljaz Bedene to reach round two of his home Grand Slam in Paris.

World number eight Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has reached the second round of the French Open thanks to a 6-2 6-2 6-3 victory over Aljaz Bedene in Paris this afternoon.

Tsonga started the brighter of the two players and was able to claim two breaks of the Slovenian's serve on his way to taking the opening set.

It was a similar outcome during the second set, with sixth seed Tsonga again able to record two breaks of serve.

He then went on to open up a 4-2 advantage in the third set, but 23-year-old Bedene hit back with a break of his own during the next game. However, he failed to build upon that success and went on to lose the next two games as Tsonga booked his place in the next round.

Tsonga had his best run at Roland Garros last year when he reached the quarter-finals.
