Widnes Vikings moved off the bottom of the Super League with a crucial 38-30 win over fellow strugglers London Broncos.

The Vikings stormed into a 12-0 lead as Lloyd White and Chris Dean both crossed within the opening five minutes.

London reacted positively and reduced the deficit courtesy of a Luke Dorn score but Rhys Hanbury touched down for Widnes to restore their 12-point cushion.

When Ben Davies extended the host's advantage with a try two minutes into the second half it looked as if Widnes would coast to victory.

However the Broncos reeled off three scores without reply to bring themselves back into the match. Lamont Bryan, Liam Colbon and Michael Witt all crossed, with the latter adding the conversions to move them within two points of leveling the scores.

White then went over again for Widnes before Tony Clubb touched down for London to set up an interesting finish, but a final score from Cameron Phelps secured the Vikings a vital win.
