Huddersfield Giants survive a late push from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to take an 18-16 win in the Super League.

Huddersfield Giants have registered a narrow 18-16 win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the Super League this afternoon.

Jermaine McGilvary helped the visitors to an 8-0 lead with two early tries, before Peter Fox pulled one back for Wakefield.

Danny Brough added a couple of penalties before half time as Huddersfield took a 12-8 lead into the break.

McGilvary completed his hat-trick at the start of the second half, but was forced off 10 minutes later through injury, leaving the Giants without their main try threat for much of the second period.

Wildcats came back strongly, Lee Smith and Ben Cockayne moving them to within two points of Huddersfield, but the visitors were able to hold on for the win.
