Hull Kingston Rovers stage comeback to defeat Wakefield Trinity Wildcats

Hull Kingston Rovers rally from 12-0 down to beat the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 20-18 in their Super League qualifier.

Hull Kingston Rovers staged a second-half comeback to defeat the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 20-18 in their Super League qualifier.

The home side forged ahead in the eighth minute as Kevin Locke found space on the right side of the line and crashed through a defender to open the scoring.

Lee Smith soon extended the visitors' advantage when he raced over the line and Locke notched his second score of the game to put the Wildcats in command.

However, Hull launched a comeback before the break as Joe Mantellato notched his side's first try of the match and added the extras.

A minute before half time, Kieron Dixon brought the hosts within two points when he raided through the Wakefield defence for a score to bring his side within two points.

In the second half, Hull upped the ante and managed to take the lead when Dixon recorded his second score of the game when he found a gap in the line to touch down.

Shaun Lunt then put his side further ahead with just seven minutes to play in the match, and although Lee Smith got a late score for the Wildcats, Hull held out to secure the comeback win.
