England score 15 tries against France, Brett Ferres grabs three

An unstoppable England put 15 tries past France, winning 84-4, with Brett Ferres grabbing a hat-trick in the process.

A rampant England side smashed France 84-4 in an international friendly this afternoon, scoring 15 tries in the process.

Brett Ferres scored a hat-trick, with John Bateman, James Roby and Ryan Hall all grabbing two tries each.

England struck two minutes into the game after the French defence fumbled Gareth Widdop's chip over, with Kallum Watkins on hand to gather the loose ball and score.

Widdop converted before Josh Hodgson darted over the line just two minutes later, before debutant Bateman dummied the French and raced away to score.

Widdop converted both tries as Olivier Arnaud got France's only try of the afternoon, going in at the corner after receiving a looping pass.

Liam Farrell got in on the action after spotting a gap in midfield, before Hall darted away down the wing to score.

Bateman got his second just before half time after ploughing through some poor tackling, before Tom Burgess virtually recreated it straight from the second-half restart.

James Roby, George Williams and Joe Burgess all got more tries in the second half, before Ferres completed his hat-trick two minutes from time after getting on the end of a grubber.

England start their international tri-series against New Zealand on November 1.
