Castleford Tigers get back to winning ways in Super League with a 49-24 victory over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the Etihad Stadium.

Castleford Tigers have made a return to winning ways in Super League with a 49-24 victory over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the Etihad Stadium.

The Tigers were ruthless during the first half as Kirk Dixon (2), Daryl Clark, Jamie Ellis, Craig Huby and Justin Carney all went over.

Ellis added a further six points with the boot, while Wakefield duo Dean Collis and Danny Kirmond both had their tries converted by Lee Smith as Castleford went in 32-12 ahead at the break.

Smith kicked over two more points at the start of the second half before Dixon completed his hat-trick on 55 minutes.

Jordan Thompson then scored Castleford's eighth try on the hour, while Dixon notched up his fourth score with seven minutes left to play.

Replacement Chris Annakin went over late on for Wakefield, but Ellis kicked over a drop goal in the final minute to cap a successful afternoon for his side.
