Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo praises his side following their 3-1 victory over Burton Albion.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has praised his side for delivering "a very good performance" with 3-1 victory over Burton Albion yesterday.

An early strike from Helder Costa combined with a brace from Benik Afobe to wrap up all three points for the Midlands side, four days after a win at Reading and one week on from their 4-1 humbling at Aston Villa.

After Villa's slip-up at Bolton Wanderers last night, the league leaders now sit some 13 points clear of third-placed Fulham in the standings with just eight games of the season remaining.

"It was a good performance, they were two different halves, but two good halves," Nuno told reporters after the game. "The first one we pressed really strong, had good possession and when the goals came they put us in control.

"We conceded a goal we shouldn't, particularly at this moment of the game, we know how things can change. We acted good in the second half, I was happy because I felt totally in control. I think the team knew we needed to go for the goals. At the same time, we had possession of the ball and created the spaces.

"It was a very good performance, so congratulations to the boys and congratulations to our fans, it was good listening to them singing and enjoying it, which is what it's all about.

"This is the consistency that this competition requires, we know when we don't perform we need to bounce back immediately, we are able to do that. It shows character and we need to know every opponent requires our respect, and today we did it again."

Next up for Wolves is a tricky trip to playoff contenders Middlesbrough on Good Friday.
