Roberto Martinez to call time on Wigan Athletic career?

Roberto Martinez reportedly comes to a mutual agreement with Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan to leave the club in the summer, even if the Latics survive relegation.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has reportedly agreed to stand down from the helm at the DW Stadium at the end of the season.

It is believed that the Spaniard has come to a mutual decision with club owner Dave Whelan to leave the struggling Premier League side in the summer, regardless of whether the Latics manage to stay in the top flight, according to Goal.com.

The 38-year-old reaches the end of his current contract with the North West club when the season comes to a close but it is thought that both parties have decided not to hatch out a fresh deal.

Reports have claimed that Whelan, who previously stated that he would be willing to sack the former Swansea City boss, is keen to find new leadership but doesn't yet have a replacement in mind.

Martinez, who agreed to stay on with the Latics after coming dangerously close to relegation last season, joined Wigan in 2009.
