Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that he expects the Premier League relegation battle to go to the last day of the season.
Saturday's 2-0 win against Stoke City means that Wigan are only in the relegation zone due to goal difference and Martinez admits that they must concentrate on their own form.
The Spaniard said: "We've been in this situation before and we know the last seven or eight games of the season the bottom five are going to pick up a lot of points and there's going to be many twists and turns.
"You can only control your own fate. We need to have as many points as we can when May 13 arrives.
"Our last two fixtures are against Blackburn and Wolves, and it's very difficult not to think it's going to go down to the last day of the season, but we're pleased with that because we've been through a difficult season, we had eight defeats on the trot and we're very happy to be able to perform in the manner we do being in the bottom three positions."
Wigan face Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in their next three fixtures.
