David Sullivan rules out January transfer activity

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan reveals that there are no funds available for the side to strengthen in the January window.

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has revealed that the club will not do any business in the January transfer window.

The Hammers owner told Sky Sports News that the side have zero funds available to strengthen next month, nor do they have plans to offload any of their main players.

"Unless somebody leaves the club that is on our wage bill at this moment in time, we don't have a penny to spend on wages," he said.

"We can only let fringe players go, or if somebody made us an offer we couldn't refuse [we would], but we're not going to be selling players for £10m or £20m. We're a non-selling club."

After a bright start to the campaign that saw them inside the top four after nine games, United have drawn five in a row and won just one of the last nine to slide down to 10th in the table.

"We've only lost four games all season in the league, which is pretty good really, but the goals have dried up as we've got five strikers out," Sullivan added. "I think if any team lost their five main strikers, the goals would dry up."

Slaven Bilic's men welcome Southampton to Upton Park in their next Premier League encounter tomorrow.
