Ralf Rangnick has reportedly agreed to become the new manager of West Bromwich Albion.
The 53-year-old is currently unemployed following his resignation as Schalke 04 boss in September 2011.
The Baggies, who have been managerless following Roy Hodgson's appointment as England manager, were believed to have identified Birmingham City's Chris Hughton as their number one target.
However, following the revelation that it would cost £2m to release Hughton from his contract at St Andrews, West Brom chiefs turned their attention to Rangnick.
Reports in Germany now suggest that a deal is in place for Rangnick to become Hodgson's successor.
West Brom are yet to comment on the reports.
