Paul Lambert quits Norwich City?

Paul Lambert reportedly resigns from his post as Norwich City manger following a bust-up with club officials.

Paul Lambert has reportedly resigned from his post as Norwich City manger following a bust-up with club officials.

The Scot is said to have reacted angrily when his employers refused to grant him permission to speak with Aston Villa.

Lambert is now expected to take up the vacant managerial post at Villa Park following reports that owner Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner have identified him as their first choice.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is among the favourites to succeed Lambert at Carrow Road, with Birmingham City's Chris Hughton also in the frame, The Sun reports.

Lambert took Norwich from League One to the top flight during a three-year spell in charge.
