Swansea City have reportedly held off late interest from Atletico Madrid to seal the signing of Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa, who will fly to Wales in the next 24 hours to join the club.
It was claimed earlier this week that Mesa, 28, was on the verge of completing an £11m move to Swansea, although Atletico were said to be preparing a late swoop for the midfielder in a bid to scupper the deal.
However, according to The Mirror, Swansea were too far ahead when it came to negotiations, and Mesa is due in Wales before the end of the weekend to undergo a medical with Paul Clement's team.
Mesa has represented Las Palmas since 2010, and the Spanish midfielder scored twice and registered two assists in 35 La Liga appearances during the 2016-17 campaign.
Swansea's only summer signing thus far has been 28-year-old goalkeeper Erwin Mulder on a free transfer from Heerenveen.
