Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers admits that the club may appeal Nathan Dyer's red card in the win at Wigan.

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has said that the club may appeal the red card shown to Nathan Dyer in the Swans' victory at Wigan yesterday.

Dyer was dismissed for a high challenge on Jordi Gomez but Rodgers feels the decision was harsh.

"Football people will tell you he tries to get the ball," said the 39-year-old.

"The player goes up and makes it look a lot worse than it was.

"But the laws of the game and the rules will tell you his foot is up and he has had a slight contact."

Rodgers refused to blame referee Andre Marriner but said the club will review the footage and consider contacting the FA officially.

"The referee was excellent and was in a good position but it is something we will review over the weekend. I didn't think it was a sending off."

The win saw Swansea edge ever further from the Premier League relegation zone. Rodgers's men are now 11 points clear of safety.
