Tottenham Hotspur have been told that they must cough up £4m if they want to land Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Northern Irishman has been heavily linked with the White Hart Lane hot seat as Harry Redknapp continues to be linked with the England job.
Rodgers, who renewed his Swans contract in January, confirmed the £4m clause was added at his behest.
"If a big club wanted to take me and the chairman and I felt it was right, then I wanted the club to benefit from it," said the 39-year-old. "It was very important to me that if I left, the club would be rewarded.
"I didn't put any clause in my contract to be able to speak to anyone. I was never thinking along that route.
"I didn't want to instergate anything in my contract, because I wanted to show I am happy here and to continue to work for the club".
Rodgers has guided Swansea to 10th place in the Premier League.
