Ledley King has admitted that he has one season to prove himself worthy of a new contract at Tottenham.

The defender has been plagued with injuries during his 13 years at Spurs, including problems with his knee, foot, back and groin.

"This is my biggest season at Spurs and I have to prove I am worth a new deal," King said.

"It is the first time I've been in a situation like this, when my contract is up. It is down to me to play the games and, if I don't play enough, I'll be in a difficult position."

While King has featured in three league games this season, the 30-year-old admits that he rarely plays at 100%.

"I don't feel particularly great when I play in terms of sharpness and fitness. Sometimes I feel like I am playing at 60 or 70%, and it's been like that for a long time.

"But if I get to 20 games, I am not going to stop. I will keep playing as many as I can."

King has made 251 appearances for Spurs since joining the North London club as a trainee in 1997.
