Jermain Defoe has insisted that England should give former teammate Jonathan Woodgate an international call up.
Woodgate has not represented England since 2008 but Tottenham Hotspur's Defoe believes that the central defender would be a good addition to Fabio Capello's squad.
"Woody's a top player, one of the best defenders I've played against when he's fit. He has been so unlucky with injuries, which has been unfortunate. He's such an unbelievable talent," Defoe told The People.
Defoe is remaining positive about his own England chances despite finding himself in and out of Harry Redknapp's starting eleven, adding: "The way I feel now is that if I play, I'll score."
