Clive Allen believes that Tottenham Hotspur will struggle to find the back of the net without Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Clive Allen believes that the club will struggle without the goal threat of Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe.

The prolific winger could face a spell on the sidelines after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during last night's 2-2 draw with Basel in Spurs' Europa League quarter-final first leg.

Meanwhile, Defoe is expected to miss two more games with a muscular injury, meaning that the responsibility is likely to fall on Emmanuel Adebayor.

"It is a real problem that they are going to face now," Allen told talkSPORT. "Manu [Adebayor] has not particularly returned with his goals this year, his performances have been disappointing, and you just wonder where the goals are going to come from. They are going to have to spread goals around the team."

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League table.
