Gareth Bale has suffered a serious-looking ankle injury in Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League quarter-final draw with Basel at White Hart Lane.

The winger had to be stretchered off after he went down late on during the first-leg encounter against the Swiss champions.

It is currently unclear what damage the Welsh international has sustained.

Spurs were 2-0 down before goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Gylfi Sigurdsson salvaged a 2-2 draw ahead of next week's second leg.
