Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that striker Emmanuel Adebayor is doing a "good job" for his side.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has been impressed with the contribution of striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Adebayor has scored just four times for Spurs this season, but as the Togo international prepares to replace the injured Jermain Defoe for the Europa League game with Basel, Villas-Boas has insisted that his player is doing a "good job".

The 35-year-old told The Sun: "Adebayor has been helping the team a lot. As a striker, he wants to live off his goal-scoring tag and he has adapted to doing something different.

"We keep our faith and confidence in him because he is helping the team. We try to get him into the goal-scoring positions more often to help him with his scoring tag but we cannot be obsessed with this. He is doing a good job."

The 29-year-old scored the decisive goal as Spurs progressed past Inter Milan in the previous round of the competition.
