Following a quiet start, Julio Cesar was called on to keep out an Emmanuel Adebayor effort, after Jermain Defoe struck the post.

Tottenham had the better of the early play but QPR found their way into the game, Adel Taarabt setting up Shaun Wright-Phillips for a chance for the home side.

Harry Redknapp's knowledge of his former club paid off for the home side, as QPR kept the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon relatively anonymous during the first half.

Many of Spurs' shots came from distance as they struggled to penetrate the QPR defence, while Wright-Phillips spurned a good chance for the hosts just before half time, firing the ball wide of Tottenham's goal.

The visitors were forced into an early substitution when Sandro appeared to tweak his knee, resulting in Scott Parker coming off the bench.
