San Jose Earthquakes struck twice in second-half stoppage time to earn a deserved 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake at Buck Shaw Stadium.
The hosts took the lead in first-half stoppage time as Khari Stephenson headed home Steven Beitashour's deep cross.
Salt Lake were level nine minutes after the restart when Jonny Steele fed Kyle Beckerman and the 29-year-old midfielder fired into the bottom left corner from 10 yards.
Despite the Earthquakes' dominance, the game had looked destined to finish even.
However, as the clocked ticked beyond 90 minutes, on-loan Tottenham Hotspur forward Simon Dawkins got on the end of another inviting Beitashour cross and planted his header into the bottom left corner.
Seconds later, Chris Wondolowski sealed the win with another header - this time from a Stephenson corner kick.
