Los Angeles 0-1 New York

Joel Lindpere's 19th-minute strike is enough for New York Red Bulls to beat Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 at The Home Depot Center.

New York Red Bulls have kept pace with DC United in the MLS Eastern Conference with a 1-0 victory over Los Angeles Galaxy at The Home Depot Center.

The visitors took the lead in the 19th minute when Jan Gunnar Solli's pass found Joel Lindpere inside the box and he struck past Bill Gaudette.

Mike Magee nearly equalised for the Galaxy moments after the break but Ryan Meara pounced to deny him.

Pat Noonan and Chad Barrett both missed the target from identical positions as time, and the points, ebbed away.

David Beckham also wasted an opportunity late on as he dragged a shot wide of the goal two minutes into stoppage time.
