Report: Asier Illarramendi to remain at Real Madrid

A report claims that Real Madrid will now keep Asier Illarramendi this summer following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti.

Asier Illarramendi will reportedly now remain with Real Madrid this summer following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti as head coach.

The Spaniard joined Los Blancos from Real Sociedad in 2013, but has largely struggled to make his mark at the Bernabeu.

During the 2014-15 campaign, the 25-year-old was continually overlooked in the big matches and it was thought that he would seek pastures new this summer.

According to Marca, however, Illarramendi will be given a chance to impress under Rafael Benitez, who is the firm favourite to take control of the Spanish outfit.

Illarramendi has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
