Keylor Navas: 'I will stay for Rafael Benitez'

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas vows to fight for his place at the Bernabeu under likely new head coach Rafael Benitez.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has revealed that he will stay at the Bernabeu this summer if Rafael Benitez becomes the club's new manager.

The Costa Rican joined Real Madrid from Levante last summer off the back of a fine La Liga season and impressive 2014 World Cup.

However, he struggled for football during the 2014-15 campaign and was forced to play second fiddle to Iker Casillas.

It had been expected that Navas would seek pastures new this summer, but the goalkeeper wants to fight for his place under the prospective new management team.

"It wasn't a completely negative year. I didn't play as much as I wanted to, but I was able to train with the best [players in the world]," Navas has been quoted as saying by AS.

"I always try to do my best. In my first season at Levante, the same thing happened as I hardly played, but then they changed their coach and I had a great [second] season. [Rafa] Benitez is a great coach and I'll be at his disposal if he arrives."

Benitez is expected to be confirmed as the new Real Madrid manager next week.
