Both England and Premier League clubs were alerted to the 49-year-old's availability after he was allegedly spotted house-hunting in London.
FA general secretary Alex Horne recently said that a new manager would not be appointed until after the current league season with Spurs manager Harry Redknapp remaining the overwhelming favourite to take the Three Lions job.
