Jose Mourinho signs a new contract with Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until 2016.

Jose Mourinho has signed a contract extension with Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until 2016.

The former Chelsea boss guided Madrid to their first league title since 2008 last season, beating Pep Guardiola's much-fancied Barcelona side in the process.

The new contract ends speculation suggesting that the 'Special One' might leave the Bernabeu after winning the title, with managerial posts at the likes of Liverpool and former club Chelsea touted as potential destinations for him.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho have reached an agreement to extend the coach's contract with the club until June 30, 2016."

Mourinho has guided four different teams to seven league titles in his last 10 years of management, never finishing lower than third place in the process.

He is also the only manager to have won the top division in England, Italy and Spain, while being just one of three coaches to have won the Champions League with different teams.
