Portsmouth may be forced to pay £5,000 to the Football Association after six of their players were shown yellow cards during their 2-2 draw with Southampton on Saturday.

Portsmouth are expected to be slapped with a £5,000 fine after six of the side's players were booked during their draw with Southampton on Saturday.

The stricken club may be forced to endure more financial difficulties after Jamie Ashdown, Scott Allan, Ricardo Rocha, Luke Varney, Kelvin Etuhu and Chris Maguire all found their way into the referee's book during Pompey's 2-2 draw with South Coast rivals Southampton.

The Football Association ruling states that an automatic fine will be issued if as many as six players are shown yellow cards during one fixture.

The governing body have yet to confirm the financial blow.
