Experienced centre-back Steven Taylor is reportedly on the verge of signing for MLS side Portland Timbers.
The 30-year-old left Newcastle United at the end of the 2015-16 season after 21 years with the club and is therefore available on a free transfer this summer.
According to Sky Sports News, Taylor flew out to Portland last week for talks with the North American club and is expected to sign on the dotted line over the next 48 hours.
Former Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell currently represents Portland, who sit seventh in the Western Conference having won seven, drawn eight and lost seven of their 22 matches this season.
