Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to sign Liam Ridgewell on loan from Portland Timbers.
The 31-year-old will join up with the Seagulls when the January transfer window opens on Saturday, staying with the Championship outfit until mid-February before returning to Portland in time for the new MLS season.
The switch sees Ridgewell reunited with Chris Hughton after they worked together at Birmingham City, while the defender has also played for the likes of Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion in his career.
Brighton have suffered a number of injuries this season, including a long-term one to starting left-back Gaetan Bong.
Hughton's side are currently fourth in the Championship table having lost just two of their opening 24 matches.
