Nottingham Forest are reportedly looking to re-sign Gary Gardner on loan from Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old midfielder was loaned to the Reds last season and became a popular figure at the City Ground, scoring four goals in 18 appearances.
It is thought that Villa boss Tim Sherwood had been keen to take a look at Gardner ahead of the new season, but an injury suffered in a pre-season friendly with Walsall has affected his progress and he now could be put up for loan again.
Gardner spent the first half of last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion before joining Forest in January for the remainder of the campaign.
According to Football League World, Forest could be on the verge of signing him for a second loan spell.
Forest have signed Matt Mills, Jamie Ward, Daniel Pinillos and Ben Hamer so far this summer.
