Nottingham Forest will have to pay Portsmouth £300,000 in compensation if they want Steve Cotterill to be their next manager.

Portsmouth reportedly want £300,000 in compensation from Nottingham Forest if they are to make Steve Cotterill their next manager, according to The Mirror.

Talks between the two clubs are apparently ongoing after Steve McClaren resigned from the manager's position earlier this month.

Cotterill is believed to have informed the Pompey board that he wishes to join Forest.

The news comes after former player and manager Frank Clark was named as the new chairman at the City Ground.
