Premier League clubs are expected to agree to the implementation of goal-line technology in a meeting this Thursday.

Premier League clubs are expected to agree to the use of goal-line technology in an official meeting this Thursday.

The top-flight outfits, as well as the Football Association, are expected to discuss implementing either Hawk-Eye, GoalRef, Cairos or GoalConrol for the campaign next season.

"I always thought it was an ideal piece of technology to allow into the game," BBC Sport quotes FA general secretary Alex Horne as saying. "The [Premier League] club meeting is on Thursday so I'm expecting it to go through at that meeting.

"There are occasions [when GLT is needed] and we've seen them here at Wembley, we've seen them in World Cups, we've seen them 11 or 12 times in the Premier League this season alone.

"So technology that says 'yes, the ball has crossed the line' and lets the referee know makes an awful lot of sense to me."

If approved by the Premier League, all teams within the league that survive relegation, as well as the newly-promoted Football League outfits, will install the new system during the summer.
