Russian big-spenders Anzhi Maklachkala have sacked coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev.
The club, who made Samuel Eto'o the world's highest-paid player this summer, are currently seventh in the Russian Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Zenit St Petersburg.
Brazilian veteran Roberto Carlos will take up a player-coach role at the club and will prepare the team for their next fixture alongside Gadzhiev's former assistant Andrei Gordeyev.
A statement released by the club said: "The club would like to express its gratitude to the coach for his work with Anzhi."
Gadzhiev's days at the Dagestani side may not be over however, as the 65-year-old could continue to work in a different capacity.
"We hope that his knowledge and experience will serve to further the future development of football in Dagestan," the statement added.
Anzhi also brought in Yury Zhirkov from Chelsea this summer and are expected to spend bigger in future transfer windows.
