Stephen McManus delighted by new Motherwell deal

Stephen McManus describes his decision to sign a new deal with Motherwell as a "no-brainer".

Motherwell defender Stephen McManus has described his decision to sign a new deal with the club as a "no-brainer".

The 31-year-old, who arrived at Fir Park on a one-year contract from Celtic last summer, penned a two-year extension with the Steelmen on Tuesday.

McManus and his Motherwell teammates finished in second place in the Scottish Premiership table during the last campaign.

"Last season couldn't have gone any better for me personally," he told the club's official website.

"I wanted to come here at the start of last season, play as many games as possible and, hopefully, bring something to the team.

"I've really enjoyed it and the decision to extend really was a no-brainer."

Motherwell ended their league campaign on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Aberdeen.
